SESA AND IPT OFFERING NEW TAPE FORMING MACHINES
SANTA CLARA, CA. March 10, 2003. Semiconductor Equipment Sales Associates, Inc. (SESA) of Santa Clara, California and Innovative Plastic Technology (IPT) of Singapore have joined together to bring two new carrier tape forming machines to the semiconductor market in North America.
The Model 680 MR and Model 680 SR machines, manufactured by IPT, offer semiconductor manufacturers, tape manufacturers, and subcontractors who consume formed tape the ability to save money by buying tape material at about 15-25% of the cost of formed tape. It also allows them to save on inventory space by manufacturing the tape themselves on demand, eliminating large bulky boxes of pre-formed tape.
These German engineered machines were designed with real-world production requirements in mind to be both fast and tough. Both machines handle material thickness of 0.3 mm – 0.5 mm and have the ability to form pocket depths up to 6 mm maximum.
The 680 MR machine handles multi-reel output with cross-winding capabilities to a formed tape reel diameter of 22 inch. The 680 MR runs up to 1800 meters per hour, while the 680 SR machine is used for single-reel output and runs up to 680 meters per hour on a single track, making these two systems the fastest available in the market today.
Both machines have been created with the highest accuracy forming processes with Match Metal Forming and Sprocket Holes Punching before the forming. The design features of these machines, have multiple patents pending and boasts of less than one hour tool change-over for top efficiency.
"In many cases," according to SESA president, Paul Gillespie, "large multi-national companies buy so much pre-formed tape that being able to manufacture the tape themselves just makes good profitable sense."
