Desktop Curve Tracer Testing Unit Now Available

Tokyo Japan—Jan. 12, 2004 – Nippon Scientific Co., LTD. of Japan and Semiconductor Equipment Sales Associates, Inc. (SESA) of California recently announced the manufacture and distribution of a new desktop curve tracer testing unit. The 2 nd Curve Tracer FB200 is specifically designed for small labs and use by individual test engineers right at their desk.

The unit allows both automatic and manual probing for V/I characteristics and offers variable speed control to monitor the effects of change of current. The unit can also be used for open/short testing of input/output pins, pin assignment functions using an external power supply and a comparing function to measure device curve compared to a Known-Good-Device curve. All measurements can be graphed and saved at any time in an easy to use text format.

The FB 200 unit was designed for manual probing of lower pin count devices but can be easily adapted to automatic probing for up to 128 pins by using a DUT board attached to an IC socket. The unit can also be used to analyze an unlimited number of pins by testing one lead at a time for more specific testing results.

“These units are great for product and test engineers,” according to SESA president, Paul Gillespie. “The units are small enough to keep on your desk or in a small lab where you may not have room for a full lab testing system and they are less than half the cost of the larger units. These units give engineers the data they need right at their desk, right at their fingertips.”

Nippon Scientific manufactures the FB200 units in their Tokyo, Japan facility and the units are being sold in North America through SESA.
